Cavan County Council Arts Services wishes to appoint a Curator/Producer in Residence.

This exciting opportunity for a curator or a producer is to work collaboratively with professional artists in Cavan, and to develop new work in various art forms for dissemination throughout the county and across all digital platforms.

The curator will guide, support and lead local artists to consider, create and disseminate new work and to develop the skills needed in the digital age.

The curator will support excellence for artists including opportunities to network across Europe should such arise.

The curator will provide complementary support for multiple artform projects taking place in Cavan.

Working with the curator will enhance, promote and extend financial and career opportunities for artists in various disciplines.

Objectives of the project

• Enable local artists to produce high quality contemporary artwork of national significance that will engage new audiences both local and international.   This work may include: performing arts, fine arts, film, theatre and interdiscilplinary arts.

• Work with local artists bearing in mind audiences and communities of interest.

• Develop strategies for building new audiences and consider a public space for developing and showing work physically or in digital formats.

• Support the investigation of relationships between artists, people and place.

 

Format of Submissions

Submissions must contain the following information:

• A typed summary outlining idea and concept for the curator’s approach (1,000 words max.)

• Estimated budget breakdown

• Time scale for completion 

• Up to date CV of the applicant and/or any partners including names of at least two referees and reference to examples of previous work that will indicate that the curator has the necessary skills to carry out this project.

• Evidence of or statement to the effect that the artist will be able to secure the relevant documentation to fulfil statutory and other legal obligations. This may include, but is not limited to; public liability cover, employer’s liability cover, Garda clearance, tax clearance certificate/artists exemption if awarded a contract.

Nazareth Housing Association provides independent living houses for individuals and couples who are 65 and over and on the Sligo County Council housing list.  Nazareth Village is comprised of 48 houses in a garden setting.  The Village was financed as a public-private partnership between Nazareth Housing Association and Sligo County Council with funding from the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government.
