The Chronoscope

A film written and directed by Andrew Legge, made as part of Wicklow County Council's Per Cent for Art commissioning programme

Andrew Legge (writer and director) in conjunction with Fastnet Films produced a film set in 1930s Ireland. Entitled The Chronoscope, the film script is a satire on the extreme politics of the time and tells the story of a fictionalised fascist group, who steal a device that can see the past in order to create propaganda films of their heroes from the past. Shot in black and white, this documentary-style film evokes the style and atmosphere of the 1930's period. Andrew Legge and Fastnet Films worked with a cast and crew from County Wicklow and the majority of the film was shot on locations in the Wicklow area.

The film was shown at The Silent Film Festival at Kilruddery House, Bray County Wicklow. It is also to be screened at a number of national and international flim festivals.

Andrew Legge is an award-winning short film director.  He also worked as a cameraman and steadicam operator on a variety of documentaries, feature films, TV programs, commercials and short films.  A graduate from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology with a Diploma Design in Film Production 1998-2001 and the University of Sunderland, BSc (Hons) Pharmacy in 1997, Andrew has been associated with many successful films, such as The Unusual Inventions of Henry Cavendish, Fowl and That Was Then This Is Now.

FASTNET FILMS is the production company of producer Macdara Kelleher and acclaimed director Lance Daly.  The company has produced and co-produced feature films, television drama series and documentaries with cumulative budgets of over $50million for domestic and international release.  FASTNET'S most recent production Kisses, a co-production with Lars Von Triers' Zentropa, won best film at the Galway Film Festival 2008, screened at the Toronto, Locarno, Telluride and London Film Festivals and is being sold by Focus Features International.  FASTNET produced the first Irish-Kosovar co-production, Brendan Grant's Tonight Is Cancelled and the first Irish-Hungarian film The Investigator which won five awards at the Hungarian Film Week 2008.
