South Circular Road Community Garden Project

Artist Name(s) Seoidín O’Sullivan
Artwork title South Circular Road Community Garden Project
Description

I initiated The South Circular Road Community Garden Project while artist-in-residence in Studio 468, St Andrews Community Centre, Rialto. The studio is managed by Common Ground along with representatives from Dublin City Council Arts Office and Rialto Development Association. In exchange for the studio residency period all artists are asked to identify a community group in the Rialto area that they will engage with during their studio award time. I worked with members of the evicted Dolphins Barn Garden to establish the Garden. We have a site on loan from ST Salvage Company that has planning permission on it for apartment blocks that we have converted into a community food garden. This is a continuation of the initial successful Dolphins Barn Community squatted food garden that was on the canal from 2005-2007.
