Saoi
Artist Name(s) | Seamus Kennedy |
Artwork title | Saoi |
Description | Saoi (the Irish word for wisdom) is a work by artist Seamus Kennedy, commissioned by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in 2005 under the Lumens project. The Lumens project invited artists to make proposals considering ideas of light / illumination for the town of Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin. Seamus Kennedy's proposal involved creating a temporary artwork sited close to the sea at Sandycove. The site is a very public space, frequented by walkers and has large numbers of people passing by on a daily basis. The work consisted of three hollow translucent fibreglass forms covered with sand, each contained floodlights and gel. The boulders along the shore of Dun Laoghaire have been a witness to the passing of time. |
