Arts Council

As the Irish Government's development agency for the arts, the Arts Council is the major funder of the arts in Ireland.

Arts organisations, artists and groups working with the arts can apply for financial support. Relevant funding programmes for artists and groups include: commissions, bursaries, projects and new work. Such schemes are awarded through a competitive process where the standard is high and where individual practice can demonstrate a track record and or potential.

The Arts Council does not act as a commissioning agent but rather funds, through an award system, individual artists and independent commissioners.
