The public art directory
The public art directory highlights the development and realisation of high quality public art projects funded principally, although not exclusively, through the Per Cent for Art scheme. It is intended to be a directory of exemplar public art projects to inspire and influence future best practice.
Projects vary in size and scale, are located in urban and rural settings, and include permanently sited and temporary work representing a single artform, or combination of artforms, and arts practice areas.
*NOTE: The public art directory is currently closed for submissions as we are working on developing a new website for publicart.ie.*
Who can make a submission?
Professional artist(s) commissioned under the Per Cent for Art scheme in the Republic of Ireland and/or commissioning bodies/organisations based in Ireland.
Submission form
To make a submission you must complete and submit a submission form (0.09MB, DOC) in full. The submission form is available on request in alternative formats including the Irish language.
You must also include documentation of the work, i.e. high resolution photographs and/or Full HD video, with captions and photographer credits where appropriate.
Assessment
The Arts Council's Public Art team will assess projects using the information provided in the submission form. They are particularly interested in recent projects:
- funded by the Per Cent for Art Scheme;
- imaginative in the processes employed;
- contributing to the development of artistic practice;
- showing evidence of a deep and genuine engagement with a people, a time and place;
- creating meaningful opportunities for artists to work with other professionals on capital infrastructure projects involving schools, hospitals, transport, regeneration, housing, energy and environmental projects;
- demonstrating public engagement and audience development.
Feedback
The Arts Council's Public Art team will advise those submitting projects of their decision in writing.
