Publicart.ie is a resource for artists, commissioners and researchers who wish to find out more about commissioning artwork through the Government Per Cent for Art Scheme for every day settings, such as schools, public spaces and healthcare settings.

The site was developed by the Arts Council with funding from the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht in 2008. Since then many people have contributed to publicart.ie and we would like to acknowledge the work of Cliodhna Shaffrey, Sarah Searson, Jenny Brady, Jenny Haughton, Aisling Prior, Toby Dennett, Catherine Boothman, Joanne Laws, Sally O'Leary and Annette Moloney.

Currently Public Art is managed in the Arts Council by Sinéad O’Reilly, Head of Local, Place and Public Art with Mary McAuliffe, Public Art Policy Support and Development Adviser and the site is managed by Webwrite.

Website

On the website you will find a directory of over 250 selected artworks made for public places and contexts over the past 20 years; as well as some notable works dating back to the 1960s. The directory is designed to showcase projects which we think contribute to the discourse on art made for people and places.

There is information on how to commission contemporary art through the State's Per Cent for Art scheme along with advice on working with artists and communities. You will also find interesting articles and videos on the experiences pages.
