Per cent for art commission | Cahir Road Roundabout Clonmel

Tipperary County Council invites submissions from artists to create a permanent gateway public artwork at the N24 Cahir Road Roundabout, Ballingarrane, Clonmel Co. Tipperary.

This is an open brief for a durable outdoor, permanent artwork, in any medium to be located on the Cahir Road Roundabout. Artists are asked to reflect on the culture, heritage and history of Clonmel. Artists are welcome to interpret these themes or other local themes of interest according to their own preference and practice. The commission is funded by Tipperary County Council and the Office of Public Works under the Per cent for Art scheme.

Budget

The total budget for the commission is €45,000 inclusive of VAT.

Brief

This is a two-stage commission process. Stage two will be a limited competition with a maximum of 5 shortlisted artists. Artists invited to stage two will be paid a proposal development fee of €750. Nazareth Housing Association provides independent living houses for individuals and couples who are 65 and over and on the Sligo County Council housing list.  Nazareth Village is comprised of 48 houses in a garden setting.  The Village was financed as a public-private partnership between Nazareth Housing Association and Sligo County Council with funding from the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government.
