Legal

There are several legal issues that relate to public art commissions from contracts and agreements, artists insurances and issues around ownership of work. Other legal issues arise out of the nature of a particular commission such as copyright and reproduction rights, planning permissions or environmental impact studies that might be required for major permanent and temporary works. Issues around child protection will be required to protect and safegaurd children. Increasingly working within a public context becomes more complex with responsibilities placed on individual artists and organisations to ensure that health and safety matters are fully considered and to protect against litigation.
